Women Empowerment: Strategies and Challenges in India

The status of women in India has been subject to many changes over the past few millennia. The history of women in India has been eventful. Women have played and continue to play a vital role in all spheres. The need of the hour is to frame women empowerment programmes at all levels. Advocacy groups, policymakers, social researchers, health workers, social thinkers and sociologists have to contribute jointly towards women empowerment. Women Empowerment Commission is a tool to eradicate various women problems and provide the right track for them. We, already, have many schemes and programs for women empowerment at every stage of administration. Now, all we need is a system for the implementation of such policies and programs. And if we can build up that system, the goal of women empowerment can be achieved easily through these programs. At the time of a major ongoing debate on women's empowerment, this book will interest all those involved with women studies, rural development, and voluntary initiatives at the grassroots level.
